10 Amazing Things You Would Not Expect To Find Underwater

Posted on: July 22nd, 2014 by admin No Comments

As things stand right now we have explored less than 5% of our oceans. It’s a remarkable fact. It means there could be all types of weird and wonderful creatures, ancient structures and artefacts lurking in these unseen realms, waiting to be found.

Already archaeologists, scientists and divers have discovered some pretty amazing things in our oceans, lakes and streams. We have compiled some incredible photographs of some equally incredible things that you just wouldn’t expect to find underwater.

An Ancient City

There are several underwater cities that have been discovered. Here are four of the most impressive:

Quiandao Lake (Thousand Island), Zhejiang, China

Thousand Island Lake was created in 1959 as part of the Xin’an River hydroelectric station project. Before the area at the foot of the Wu Shi mountain was flooded, two ancient Han Dynasty cities stood. The beautiful carved buildings are now under a 100ft of water and a major tourist attraction.
