Why Treat Your Water?
You Don’t Have to Live a Hard Life with Hard Water
Most homes in the UK have hard water, which means it contains high levels of calcium and magnesium carbonate. These minerals might sound harmless, but they cause limescale, dry skin, and energy inefficiency throughout your home.
By treating your water, you’ll notice the difference immediately with softer skin, cleaner surfaces, better-tasting water, and a home that runs more efficiently.
YOU HAVE A CHOICE...
MAKE A WISE CHOICE!
What Is Hard Water?
In the UK, most homes have hard water, which means the water contains high levels of naturally occurring minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium. These minerals are picked up as rainwater filters through limestone and chalk underground. While they aren’t harmful to drink, they can cause limescale, dry skin, and appliance damage over time.
Water hardness is measured by the number of mineral deposits in your water, expressed in parts per million (ppm):
Soft water: under 60 ppm
Moderately hard water: 60–120 ppm
Hard water: 120–180 ppm
Very hard water: over 180 ppm
If you live in a hard water area, you’ll likely notice scale on taps and kettles, cloudy glassware, or dry skin and hair — all signs that your home could benefit from water treatment.
The five reasons why you should treat your water
Limescale
Protect Your Home and Appliances
The most recognised effect of Hard Water is Limescale. Not only is it unpleasant and unsightly but it also damages everything it comes into contact with. You can see limescale inside your kettle and on your taps, but it is also damaging all of your water related appliances! Your washing machine, dishwasher, steam iron, coffee machines, radiator thermostats and, of course, your central heating boiler are all affected - greatly reducing the lifespan of all these appliances.
Skin & Hair
Feel the Difference
The heavy metals and minerals in hard water can strip away natural oils from your skin and hair, leaving them dry and irritated. This can worsen symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, and dry skin.
Soft water is naturally conditioning so customers often tell us their skin feels softer, smoother, and more hydrated after installing a Pure Water People system. Hair also looks shinier and feels cleaner for longer.
Drinking
Choose What’s Best for You and Your Family
Firstly, lets be clear, here in the UK we benefit from a safe supply of tap water. But the quality of the water you drink is a personal choice. Given the choice of drinking chlorine, heavy metals, and forms of contamination in your water vs drinking purified mineral water - it is clear which would be the most healthy. We all know how important it is to stay hydrated, you have the choice to hydrate with clean, crisp and fresh purified mineral water.
Cleaning
Spend Less Time Scrubbing
Hard water leaves behind a chalky residue on everything it touches from taps, showers, tiles, glass, and even your clothes. It reacts poorly with soaps and detergents, meaning you end up using more cleaning products to get the same results.
With soft, conditioned water, soap lathers more easily and rinses away completely. You’ll use up to 75% less shampoo, washing powder, and cleaning products, saving you both time and money.
Energy & Sustainability
Reduce Your Bills
FACT - if you live in a hard water area and do nothing to combat its effects, it is costing you up to 40% more to heat your water! Independent studies about the benefits of Soft Water, such as the Battelle Study have confirmed this.
That's a lot of wasted energy just heating through limescale! It's a lot of money, too!
Soft water systems also help reduce plastic waste by cutting down your need for bottled water and chemical cleaning products. That’s better for your home, your wallet, and the planet.
